Investigating the Unconventional
Class Description:

Maybe you are chasing Cryptids, documenting Contact with those who have crossed over, or Chasing UFOs, how do you keep focused on your investigation? What happens when it is time to write a blog article that might be seen by many people, or what if you are interviewed by the media because your case has grabbed public attention? Will you be ready, or will you sound clueless? The answers to all these questions rest on your mindset as an investigator. James Clarkson, an experienced investigator and veteran of 30-plus years of experience in both the criminal justice and the UFO worlds will guide you through basic principles of Investigating Unconventional Phenomena. Interviewing witnesses – gaining trust and cooperation, assessing credibility, and organizing the information no matter how strange the subject matter. Interactive class with exercises and discussion.

Class Outcome:

The purpose of the class is to provide the attendees with a basic framework for approaching any investigation in the paranormal field: 1) Basic concepts about what is true in every investigation. 2) Managing your own mental perspective so that you are thorough, objective and organized. 3) A technique for efficiently obtaining the best available relevant information from the witness using a three-step process. 4) Basic approaches to determining credibility. 5) Thinking about what you learn from each witness and situation in terms of how to clearly explain what you have learned from your efforts to others.
