Unearthing the Past
Class Description:

Unearthing the Past – how to conduct historical research to give your paranormal investigation credibility Beef up your paranormal investigations with solid historical research and interviewing skills! As many ghost TV shows demonstrate, gathering paranormal evidence is only one part of the equation in any investigation. Historical research and interviews with subjects is key to a well-rounded investigation, however, these can be both daunting and confusing if you don’t know where to begin. In this class, you’ll learn how to dig into the archives as well as learn about best interviewing practices to get your subjects talking and sharing their stories. You will also learn about best ways to combine all aspects of the investigation into a crisp, intriguing storyline that will appeal to your audience. If you are a podcaster, a paranormal investigator, or an aspiring writer, this class will provide valuable tips for any investigation you decide to pursue. This class is taught by a former Bend Bulletin reporter, author, and ghost tour researcher.

Class Outcome:

Students will come away from Unearthing the Past with the ability to implement various historical research tools in their investigations, and will learn how to navigate newspaper archives, property records, and more. Additionally, they will also understand best interview practices and how to combine all aspects of their paranormal investigation into a compelling storyline to share with others.
